Gary J. Bartz Attorney
Gary received his Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Michigan University in 1997 and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan in December 2000. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 2001. Gary joined Shinners & Cook in 2003, and focuses on business and real estate law.
“I’ve enjoyed business and real estate ever since law school,” Gary says. “In fact, on my first day of law school, I attended a lecture with James White, who is well-known in the field of business law and is the author of the authoritative series of books about the working of the Uniform Commercial Code, which deals with contracts. It gave me a real respect for contract and business law in general and a real love for the subject."
“Most legal deals or disputes involve elements of both confrontation and cooperation to resolve. I enjoy the intellectual challenge of both and I enjoy the unpredictability of my job. The law changes at a moment’s notice, from court decisions or a new law being passed. I stay abreast of the latest developments through a lot of reading. I’m knowledgeable and I’m determined to do whatever is in our clients’ best interest. I’m also fortunate that we have a very supportive, teamwork-oriented work environment at Shinners & Cook.”
In addition to his work at Shinners & Cook and in the community, Gary is an avid outdoorsman. He belongs to the Saginaw Field and Stream Club and also enjoys woodworking and target shooting.
