Renee E. Nesbit Attorney
Renee received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Davenport University in 1987 and her Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University in 1997. She was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1997. Renee joined Shinners & Cook in 2000, and focuses on estate planning and Medicaid planning.
Renee’s legal work before the Michigan Supreme Court resulted in a published opinion (Frankenmuth Mutual Insurance v Masters, 460 Mich 105, 595 NW2d 832, June 15, 1999). As of November 2005, Renee holds certification in probate and estate planning. Concerning her work as an attorney, Renee says, “My work in estate planning and Medicaid planning alleviates worry on the part of our clients. I’m working with clients on very sensitive issues, so I try very hard to understand their concerns and goals. I work hard to protect clients’ assets and ensure that we meet their goals for transferring their estates. Often we’re meeting at a difficult time in their life. I do some hand-holding and some tissue-holding, but it’s very gratifying to be working in a part of the law that is so constructive.
“I think one of my strengths is that I care a great deal about our clients. I’m in such a sensitive part of the law that it really does take someone who has a true interest in the client and what they want to accomplish. I’m proud to work with the people at Shinners & Cook. Our attorneys and staff are experienced and a great group of people to work with.”
Renee frequently gives estate planning seminars in the community. She was also instrumental in creating the Community Prescription Support Program, Inc. In addition to her work at Shinners & Cook and in the community, Renee enjoys her role as a mother. Her hobbies include gardening, cross-stitch, and playing golf. Renee was a member of the 2003 and 2005 Front Nine Glow Golf Champion Teams at the Saginaw Country Club. Renee also is an avid Saginaw Spirit fan, who serves as a Billet Mom and attends nearly all home games.
