Daniel C. Rusch Attorney
Dan received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Michigan State University in 1974 and his Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1979. He was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1979. He joined Shinners & Cook in 2002 and focuses on litigation. Dan says, “I went into the law because I didn’t want to ever have to hire a lawyer! After 27 years as a lawyer, I realized I’m argumentative by nature, so the law is a good outlet for me."
“I’m one of the litigation people in the Firm. The parts of work I like the best are the preparation for trial and then actually going to trial; being able to bring it all together. You have to know the subject matter and you have to know the law, but it’s not something you can learn solely from a book. It’s something you also learn from on-the-job training. It’s more of an art than a science."
“I’ve worked at four firms in my career. Shinners & Cook is mid-sized compared to the others. The overall quality of our staff and attorneys and their expertise in the areas they practice is extremely high. My skill is litigation, but to supplement my legal argument, I have access to people far more knowledgeable about other areas of the law. This allows me to apply my skills and experience in the courtroom and to best represent our clients’ interests.”
In addition to his work at Shinners & Cook, Dan enjoys woodworking, hunting, and camping. He is also a licensed residential builder.
